The BBQ tradition runs deep in this 4 th generation pit master. Kevin’s Great-
Grandfather, Grandfather and Father all tended the BBQ pit at the Turlock Swiss
Club where Kevin was first introduced to the “smoky goodness” of slow cooked
Kevin honed his BBQ skills in statewide BBQ competitions with his Father and
Uncle. But it was his road trip across the deep south from Alabama to California
with lingering stops in roadside BBQ joints in Texas that grabbed his BBQ fork. He
cleaned his fork in every Texas stop…hence the name – Slick Fork!
And for those western aficionados…Slick Fork also describes a particular design of
saddle. The slick fork saddle (also known as an A-fork) is named for the
shape of its fork. The fork is the saddle part at the front of the saddle tree
that joins the bars together and provides a base for the horn. TMI!
